Termincal clients or SSH connection

A text-based terminal client can be used to login remotely using an SSH-based command shell. This is typically used to have a terminal connection without graphical user interface. It is also possible to run graphical applications over such an SSH connection when X-forwarding is enabled. The easiest way to do this, is by using the MobaXterm client. However, if you're not used in using a text-based terminal, it's more convenient to use Open OnDemand instead, when a full-featured graphical user interface (GUI) is required (see below).

Another popular and minimalistic SSH-terminal client is Putty. Note that Putty does not support running graphical applications by itself. For transferring data to and from Luna, you can use can file transfer applications that run over SSH, like sFTP. Good example is FileZilla.

Use the following connection settings when using SSH:

Host: helios.umcinfra.nl (or selene.umcinfra.nl for diagnostics) loginname: '' Port: 22

Note

Make sure to use capital P when entering your P-number!

MobaXterm

Download the portable version of MobaXterm. Sometimes you could also request MobaXterm as an application within OneView. This depends on how and when your amsterdamUMC account is created.

Using MobaXterm

Open a local terminal and use ssh to connect to one of the login nodes. If you need to transfer small files you can find the information here. If you need help to get started with MobaXterm, try out their demo.

X2Go

The X2Go client is an alternative connection method when a graphical interface is required. You will first have to download and install the client application for your desktop computer or request it from ServiceNow to get it installed in the OneView environment.

Using X2Go

Open X2Go uses the SSH-protocol for communications

FileZilla

FileZilla (vervanger WinSCP) can be used for transfering data and can be request it from ServiceNow
